Collection: Kassandra Klassen
Kassandra Klassen (she/her) currently works and lives on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Esquimalt and Songhees), Malahat, Pacheedaht, Scia’new, T’Sou-ke and W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples, also known as Victoria. She graduated from Emily Carr University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2015.
Her creative process blends drawing and painting techniques, translating cognitive presence into a visual form. Her work focuses on colour relationships and gestural mark-making, balancing meditative contemplation and impulse-led action to relay an affectual experience. Her work celebrates sensations that can't be pinned down in words and can be lost in a moment; the sublime beauty of clouds turned bright orange at dusk, a tender moment walking with a loved one, a longing for something out of reach.
