Jack Marmion is an Irish painter based in Vancouver, BC who thinks art shouldn’t have to be so serious.
Using colourful loose abstract compositions in combination with illustrative figures and imagery drawn from the history of tattooing and cartoons he creates playful paintings intended to entertain more than anything. The combination of bold graphic imagery with a delicate painterly approach is central to Jacks practice. Often times fine art is predicated on high flung concepts and theories but with His paintings he aims to work against this by creating visually striking work that is accessible to anyone and upon which they can ascribe their own connections and meaning due to the universally recognizable nature of his subject matter and his graphic approach.
