Alison Klymchuk (b. 1999 in Ontario, Canada) is a multidisciplinary artist and 2021 BFA graduate from the University of Victoria. She is currently situated on unceded WSÁNEĆ, Lekwungen and Wyomilth territory, otherwise known as Victoria, BC.
Alison works primarily in expanded painting to generate movement towards new perspectives. Her experimentation with the medium’s material surface and spatial boundaries has taken form in combines, sculptures, installations and urban interventions. Alison’s focus on the viewer’s active experience is influenced by the endless possibilities of navigating urban spaces, particularly off the beaten path. Through abstraction and physical redirection, she disrupts habitual patterns to invite unexpected interactions. This process is further refined and reflected through her two-dimensional studies.
